(Adjective) A State Licensed University or State Approved University is an academic institution within the United States of America's system of PostSecondary Education.

It indicated that the licensed or approved university is fully legitimate in the State where the institution operates and it also represents a first step towards academic excellence. As a general rule, a State Licensed University is considered reliable, serious and well-managed. A State-University may seek to be Regionally or Nationally Accredited.
Usage: This University is licensed by the State of New Mexico and is currently seeking Regional Accreditation. However, this other university is neither State Licensed nor Accredited.
